A Industrial Intelligence Joint Research and Development Center was launched on Febuary 3, by the Belt & Road Information Technology Research Institute, HDU and Sino-Austrian Research Institute for Intelligent Industries.

The Belt & Road Information Technology Research Institute (B&R ITRI) is a international platform for interdisciplinary innovation cooperation, working on applying artificial intelligence, energy saving and green technologies to industrial intelligence, green production safety, green city and comprehensive social management. So far, the B&R ITRI has raised over 30 million RMB of research funding and received two National Teaching Awards (First Prize and Second Prize), three provincial teaching awards, and four provincial Sience and Technology Progress Awards.
The Nanjing based Sino-Austrian Research Institute for Intelligent Industries, on the other hand, connects Technical University of Vienna, government and industries. Its mission is to serve the development of intelligent industires in China and Austria by researching and transforming key technologies such as industrial machine learning, and by introducing entrepreneurial teams to each other.
The two teams first met in December 2019 when a HDU delegation led by Chairman Wang Xingjie and Hou Pingzhi visited Technical University of Vienna. Based on previous academic cooperation and research collaboration, both teams decided to become strategic partners.
According to the cooperation agreement signed on the spot, the two sides will cooperate in artificial intelligence, big data, intelligent industries and industrial security.
